Description
Standard Handicap Parking Lot Stencil
There is no Standard Handicap Parking Lot Stencil. There is no standard size, design, shape, etc. It is private property. ALL different. No standard. None. That said, this particular Handicap Stencil ( HC ) is listed in a manual titled; Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. ( For public property; roads. ) This is “that” International Standard Handicap Parking Lot Stencil. A Friend from Norway uses these. I manufacture. All else is private property. That’s why there are so many other designs / sizes / shapes; it’s private property. All is well. Call if you have questions. 614.237.8884.
All of our stencils are manufactured from Low Density Polyethylene Plastic. ( LDPE ) LDPE is certainly re-usable and the popular choice of pavement marking companies. Choose 60 Mil thickness = 1/16″ thick material, for occasional use. Choose 125 Mil thick material = 1/8″ thick material for professional use. Try not to buy anything thinner than 60 Mil. It tends to be flimsy / flutter and may be overpriced. To read more on stencils, click; Read Our Blog.
I’ve been striping parking lots for (30) years and all of my own, personal stencils are 125 Mil = 1/8″ thick, Low Density Polyethylene Plastic. ( LDPE ) But…for occasional use, the 60 Mil = 1/16″ thick material…will serve you well.
Notes…
I recommend the 39″ height for (2) real reasons. But, first…as with all of our stencils, that dimension is the actual cutout portion. That measurement is from the top of the “head” to the lowest point in the “wheel”. Edge Distances are 4″ or more, all around. We offer the biggest edge distances. It’s not only about over spray protection, it’s about strength. You’ll use a Handicap stencil on almost every job. It needs to last.
(1) If you’re on a job that’s “public money” / “public property” you may have a “call out” for the 39″ tall version. In (28) years, if it’s ever called out, it’s always been the 39″ height. I’d buy the 39″ tall Handicap Stencil.
(2) If you’re ever on a “private property” job, you can always go bigger but be careful going smaller. In other words. If I have a client that has a 36″ Handicap Parking Lot Stencil, I cover it up by painting a blue square on top of the existing HC. Then, I lay my HC stencil on top of the “Blue Block” and re spray my HC stencil. ( You can always go bigger. ) BUT…if you have a client that has, for example, a 24″ STOP Stencil, be careful “Greying It Out” and then replacing it with a 12″ STOP. ( Be careful going smaller. ) Again…I’d buy the 39″ International Standard Handicap Parking Lot Stencil, if you can. There are more details in my book. I hope I helped. Thank you in advance.
