How To Stripe a Parking Lot; Mr. Box KIT
If you’ve ever wanted to know how to stripe a parking lot alone, “Mr. Box” is mentioned in my book. I have joked that “He” is the best employee I ever had. This weight box holds small tools such as: chalk, tape measure, 300′ measuring tape, etc. Dimensions are easy. No set standard. Cut your Mr. Box. Press on.
I’ve also written about adding enough weight to hold down a “Long Rope” to “Tic Tails”, a “Long Line” for Centerlines and a “Long Rope” for that procedure. There’s a small “J” hook installed low on the box. That hook is used to hold the loop at the end of my cotton chalk line. I don’t use chalk boxes. I need sticks of chalk to mark the lot anyway, so, I just drag that stick along the cotton chalk line and use that to “Snap Lines”. Yes, I know lasers are around. A Friend manufactures his own. Call with questions. (614) 237.8884. That hook is also useful if I need to attach my 300′ tape. And, the box weighs enough that I use a rubber tired dolly to transport / maneuver. That makes it all much easier. ( All in my book. ) Again, this weight box is invaluable.
Last, I’ve helped (2) crews. Both said they don’t work alone so they don’t need a Mr. Box Kit. I disagree. While (2) are Long Roping, the 3rd can be snapping lines, alone, where needed. Or, when (1) is striping, the other can snap lines ahead. Anyhow, this is the box. We MFG’d ours using a table saw. The small side handles are easily found at any hardware store, (17) screws, a “J” hook. If you’d like to know more, feel free to call; (614) 237.8884. . I hope I helped. Thanks again.
